A fundamental question in ecology and evolution is how organisms adapt to environmental variability at different temporal and spatial scales. My research focuses on critical life-history transitions such as dispersal, germination and flowering to understand responses to variable environments.
For my studies I use California desert annuals, such as Chorizanthe rigida and Mimulus bigelovii, and the annual weed Arabidopsis thaliana, using different approaches such as ecophysiology, morphometrics, biogeography and ecogenomics to explore annual plants’ adaptations to environmental variability.
